Position Overview

As the Sales Manager at Watson Agriculture, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving sales, fostering client relationships and contributing to the growth and success of our business. This hands-on position demands a deep understanding of the agricultural industry, particularly fertilisers and the ability to connect with our target audience – farmers. You’ll be based in the heart of agriculture, Mathoura, New South Wales and work from our office while also visiting farmers and participating in various tradeshows and events.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities as a Sales Manager at Watson Agriculture will include:

  • Sales Leadership: Leading and developing high-performing sales programs, setting clear targets and objectives and providing guidance to our marketing company, Marketing Eye, to achieve sales goals.
  • Client Relationship Management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with farmers and other agricultural stakeholders, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions and services.
  • Product and Service Sales: Promoting and selling Watson Agriculture’s fertiliser products and services, including spreading, blending, additives and logistics, demonstrating a comprehensive knowledge of our offerings and their benefits to farmers.
  • Logistics Management: Actively involving yourself in the management and overseeing of the logistics of buying and selling fertilisers.
  • Market Analysis: Staying informed about market trends, competitor activities and industry developments to identify new business opportunities and strategies.
  • Negotiation: Conducting negotiations with clients, suppliers and partners to secure favourable terms and agreements.
  • Administration: Maintaining accurate records of sales activities, preparing reports and managing budgets as required.
  • Event Participation: Attending industry tradeshows, exhibitions and events to network, showcase products and stay updated on industry developments.
  • Professional Development: Staying current with industry knowledge and trends through continuous learning and professional development.
  • New Opportunities: Seeking out new opportunities to add value to Watson Agriculture and services and products to customers.

Qualifications and Requirements

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in agriculture, business, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
  • Proven experience in agricultural sales is essential, with a background in fertilisers being highly desirable.
  • Strong logistics skills with the ability to manage supply chain processes effectively.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and CRM software.
  • Excellent negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive sales in an organisation.
